Physics of Failure & Reliability

Development of nanotechnology in the wider market requires physics of failure and safety issues to be addressed. New products brought to market require reliability and safety testing.

The Nano Centre aim to use Physics of Failure, a science-based approach to reliability that uses modeling and simulation to design-in reliability. Lancaster University's Centre of Microsystems is well established and collaboration exists with The Nano Centre. Addressing design challenges associated with next generation integration technologies and the optimisation of quality, reliability and manufacturing economics in systems based on micro- and nano-technology is particularly relevant.
